Edo 2016: Anenih Breaks Silence, - Politics

Ahead of the September 10, 2016 Gubernatorial election in Edo State, and with the ongoing waves of political intrigues in the state, elder-statesman and former Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih, has broken the silence on where he stands in the governorship race.

Anenih, who is a force and a highly consequential factor when it comes to deciding the fate of politics in Edo state, has disclosed that he won’t be throwing his weight behind any aspirant of his party, the PDP, associated with controversies.

Chief Anenih who had remained neutral and silent, since the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday, February 25, released the time table for the Edo guber polls, had thrown his huge followers into speculations as to who he would anoint ahead of the polls.

“Mr Fix it”, as he is fondly called, was said to have broken the silence, weekend, during a private meeting,

A source privy to the meeting, who pleaded anonymity quoted Anenih as saying, he won’t support any candidate that has issue or suspicious records, adding that he would only support an aspirant that is clean and has no bleak record to contest for the number one seat of Edo State.

The aspirants who have so far declared interests to vie for the plum seat in Edo State, on the platform of the PDP are Earl Osaro Onaiwu, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen and Chief Solomon Edebiri.
