On Tuesday, the Senate ordered the IG of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase to, as a matter of urgency, reinstate, promote and pay all arrears due to Sergeant Amos Olaniyan, who was verbally suspended from the
Nigerian Police Force 21 years ago.
These resolutions were sequel to a petition presented by Senator Solomon Adeola from Lagos West on behalf of one of his constituents, Amos Olaniyan, on October 6, 2015.
Olaniyan was verbally suspended in 1994 on an allegation of bribery from which an Orderly Room Trial discharged and acquitted him but the Police refused to recall him even as he was in possession of his identity card and uniform.
He had written petitions to previous IGs of Police and the Police Service Commission and even late President Umaru Yar’adua, to no avail. Senate President Bukola Saraki, noted that Nigerians who cannot afford legal fees should seek redress at the Senate…… An elated Amos says he can now finally afford to marry a 2nd wife.
